I enjoy cheese. So much so I thought I'd write a blog. I try to buy a different cheese every week. I'm no expert but I've eaten quite a bit of cheese. I'm writing this because I'm just that, not an expert. I'll try to give my humble opinion on each cheese.

Grand Ewe Gouda
Sorry it's been a while but I have a good one this week. Grand Ewe Gouda is a sheep's milk cheese, aged for one year. Like a couple others I've had the aging doesn't give it that strong bite that some other cheeses may get. It has a great full flavor, slightly nutty without getting too strong. The label says 'special edition vintage' and whether it really is a special edition or not, it's delicious.

Cantalet
Another great cheese and another first for me. This french cheese doesn't taste the sixty days it has aged, it seems like a fresher cheese. Without having the typical aged heaviness, it would be a good cheese for anyone. At first it seemed like an ordinary cheddar. Not that it's a bad thing but usually I try to look for a more interesting cheese, with a little more depth. I was wrong though, the more I ate the more depth I found. Nutty with a light earthiness. It's a creamy, smooth, delicious cheese.

Mitica Gran Bu
An interesting cheese, the first buffalo cheese I've ever tried. It's hard and aged. There's a definite nuttiness to the flavor. You can tell it's not like a cows milk cheese, it has a little twang to it that cows milk wouldn't bring. Almost a gaminess to it. A very very good cheese, not great though. Being on the expensive side, I can't say I'll be buying it regularly. Certainly though one to remember, and even if it won't be right away, I hope to see it again someday.

Chistou
A silky smooth french cheese. Made of both sheep and cow's milk. It's very smooth and mild, in the beginning it's almost boring, but soon after the flavor deepens. The flavor gets more interesting but never strong and stays characteristically smooth throughout. There is almost a hint of a flavorful swiss but only just so. It was a rare find at a market that usually doesn't have much of a cheese selection, and quite cheap because of it. A great cheese anyone, cheese lover or not, will enjoy.

Uniekaas Farmer's Gouda
Rich, buttery, salty, and strong, but not too strong. It's a semi soft, raw cow's milk cheese aged for 9 months. This Dutch cheese has a nice bold aged flavor but not as strong as a similar aged Gruyere. There are these great little crystals that some good aged cheese has. They give it just a little crunch which is nice. I'm no stranger to Gouda and this is a unique and excellent example. Definitely more interesting then your average Gouda. With much more depth to it as well. Overall, strong enough to let you know its a serious aged cheese but not overly so. Absolutely worth a try.

The First Post ( Idiazabal )
Idiazabal
Delicious. It really is. A semi soft, sheep's milk cheese from Spain. Aged and smoked. Mild, definitely not strong but flavorful. It ends more interesting then it starts. Maybe a little nutty but not much and just slightly buttery as well. The smoke is perhaps the most mild smoking of cheese I have yet to taste. Not too sheepy either, it could easily be mistaken for a cow's milk cheese. Never having even heard of it before, and I still don't know if I'm even pronouncing it correctly, it was a good buy. I must say, being my first post, this cheese as with any other has many variations and this is my opinion on this particular one. To wrap up, it's mild yet flavorful and very worthy of being my first review.
